Screen GIF Recorder is a Chrome extension that records your screen and exports the result as a GIF or HD WebM file. Your privacy is important to us.

Data Collection

Screen GIF Recorder does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or user information. Specifically:

• No analytics or tracking scripts are used.
• No cookies are set.
• No data is sent to any remote server.
• No browsing history, keystrokes, or form data is accessed.

Screen Recording

The extension uses Chrome's desktopCapture API to let you choose a screen, window, or browser tab to record. The recorded content:

• Is processed entirely within your local browser.
• Is never uploaded, transmitted, or stored outside your device.
• Is discarded from memory when you close the recorder tab or navigate away.

Permissions Explained

• desktopCapture — Allows you to select a screen, window, or tab for recording. This is the core functionality of the extension.
• downloads — Saves the recorded GIF or WebM file to your local Downloads folder.
• tabs — Opens and manages the recorder tab within Chrome.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not integrate with, or send data to, any third-party service, API, or server.

Data Storage

No data is persisted between sessions. All recording data exists only in temporary browser memory during active use and is released when the recording session ends.

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
